Sheldon Barrett reports that his mother passed away on Sept.15th of congestive heart failure. Services were attended by her husband, children, grandchildren and close relatives. Charleen was buried in the family plot in Las Vegas 
on Sept. 30th. Charleen was 83 and was married to Burt for over 65 years.
Charleen was born in Brownwood, Texas May 6, 1923. Her mother was a secretary for one of the top engineers that built Boulder Dam. After moving to Las Vegas with her parents, Charleen graduated from Las Vegas high School in 1939. She married Burton Stewart Barrett on May 8, 1941 and raised six children. She was a very talented seamstress, enjoyed cooking, writing letters, working puzzles, and was an avid reader. She believed in education and assisted all of her children in obtaining college degrees. She and her husband traveled extensively and for the last several years, hosted annual family ski weeks in Lake Tahoe. Charleen and Burton celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary June 19, 2006 in Reno with all of their children and grandchildren present.
Burt is doing OK. He had both his knees replaced in 2000 and Sheldon said that he has his airplane up for sale.
In 1965 the Barretts lived on Norlen street while Burt worked with the 1129th SAS at Area 51. They had six children and several of the girls baby sat our young sons. Sheldon, the third oldest, provided this update on the family.
Charleen is the oldest daughter. She attended the Univ. of California-Burbank, married a career Air force man who retired about 15 years ago. They have a daughter and live in Salem, OR.
Sharon lives in Klamath, Falls, OR. She attended UNR and teaches the deaf. She has one daughter.
Sheldon is the oldest son. He attended UNR. He is self employed and is in computer sales. He lived in San Diego for years and is now in Oregon.
Sheila also attended UNR. She is a Nurse, has three Children and lives in Reno.
Sheridan, AKA "Max" is a policeman in Las Vegas. He attended New Mexico State and is married with children.
Shannon is the youngest. He attended Arizona State. He was in the Air Force and is now a First Officer for American Airlines. He is married and has two sons.
