Connie Pardew is a freelance writer based in Reno, Nev. She has a background in broadcasting and advertising. Pardew has written articles ranging from business profiles to feature articles in local publications.
She was a staff writer and volunteer for Aviation Nation (Nellis Air Show) and is currently the Media Coordinator for the National Aviation Heritage Invitational - a competition at the Reno Championship Air Races. The Invitational encourages the preservation and restoration of historic aircraft to airworthy condition and to the very highest standard of workmanship and historical accuracy.
Her real love is telling the story of the people, past and present that make things happen in the aviation community. She has the highest regard for our aviation pioneers and the sacrifices they made to protect us and give us a promising vision for the future. br />
Pardew was just a child when most of the Roadrunners were working behind the scenes in obscurity, protecting our freedom. "Most people don't realize what was going on during those times," she said. "Little did we know that mysterious black birds were nested in the Nevada desert and a group of committed individuals were devoted to such a project? I feel very privileged to know these individuals and am grateful for their and dedication."
Connie treasures Roadrunner friends and her life has changed in many ways because of folks like Frank Murray, Roger Andersen, Dick Roussell, TD Barnes, and Tony Bevacqua. One of her most unforgettable experiences was taking the trip to Mobile, Alabama in June 2008 to honor fallen A-12 pilot, Jack Weeks at the Battleship Alabama Memorial Park
Although she never served in the military, she holds our Veterans very dear to her heart. "Every time I meet a veteran, I take the time to shake their hand and express my gratitude," she said.
Pardew lives with her husband, David and daughter Gina. Her son is currently serving in the United States Navy as an aircraft handler on the flight deck onboard a Nimitz-class carrier.
Pardew's full time occupation is with a major airline. The flexibility of working at an airline affords her the opportunity to freelance and the chance to fly to various destinations and events.
