Msgt. Coy Vaughn Staggs (Ret.)

October 20, 1930 - July 22, 2023

The Roadrunners mourn the loss of Msgt. Coy Vaughn Staggs (Ret.). He was class 52-A and he served in the US Air Force from 1951 until 1969. During that time he was stationed at Area 51 with the base first responders. He was a search party member when Walter Ray went down. He was also stationed at Johnson AFB in Japan, where he was in the air rescue team. He taught escape and evasion in Korea. After Japan he was stationed at Stead AFB where he taught Survival and SAR. He retired from the Air Force in 1969.

He was one of the parachute jumpers who helped in the 1956 TWA crash in the Grand Canyon. He had over 300 parachute jumps.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years Betty L Staggs his Sons Ron & John Staggs his Daughter Deborah Irons. 6 grand children and 2 great grand children.
