He will be sadly missed. Alan Johnson, 21 Bedford Road, Macclesfield, UK SK11 8JQ E-Mail Hi my name is Erik bultz, I am 20 yrs old, and I have been a fan of the skunk works since I was a kid. I grew up reading books about the stealth, and other aircraft, and eventually building models. Well until the Boeing Bird of Prey was revealed, I looked into patch collecting, until this year. I not long ago around the beginning of the year decided that I had better get my Patch collection underway, and I was wanting to ask if you know if there is a way to place an ad or something stating looking for Special Projects Patches from the past. I already now Pete merlin, and a few other people that I met here and there. One guy I met on ebay. But as far as things with ebay go, and sometimes skeptical cause I would like the original piece. I would like to find an Original or the closest thing to it? 5-10-2007 - The Roadrunner family is crushed by the news of the sudden passing of Rebecca (Becky) Andersen, lovely wife of former president and current secretary of Roadrunners Internationale. I cannot begin to tell you how much I have thoroughly enjoyed your web site. All too often, the general public has grave mis-conceptions concerning our government, intelligence agencies and black projects. It is indeed refreshing and encouraging to view the many presentations you have provided to better pay well deserved and long overdue tribute to all the dedicated professionals at CIA,NSA, USAF, and other countless individuals at Groom who play a vital role in protecting our nation against our enemies.
As former USAF and presently with the airlines (in Houston), I will admit I am extremely fascinated about what present day Groom and associated technology must be like, however we all realize the importance of the mission and the necessity of secrecy. Nonetheless, I pray that one day, I too could one day participate in some way. As we celebrate our Independence Day, I say Thank You Sir in your service as a Roadrunner in helping to keep our country free.
Les Parson July 24, 2006 To those of you who asked about John Shinn, Carl and I received a note from Patsy, his wife. She said he is doing 'somewhat better", is with a hematoligist in Lubbock, TX, and has been on oral chemo since January 2006. The white count is lower than when he was diagnosed with cancer. He still sees a retina specialist in Lakewood Colorado for one last time. He is not flying now and his airplane is for sale.
Patsy's daughter died with cancer a couple of years ago and she is staying in Lakewood to help look after the two granddaughters. Their ages are 15 and 17. Patsy and John bought a townhouse in Lubbock, where John is living, near friends. Liz

Chula Vista, CA USA - March 26, 2006 Just read your inputs for March 20,2006 on the SR-71 Website, and followed your links. Great website! I spent 17.5 years at the 9th SRW in Okinawa from 1972-1990 working as a Tech Rep in the EW Shop. The photos and information on your site are fantastic. Thanks to all who contributed this information!
When I look at the unmanned UAV efforts going on now, I realize that thirty years from now, there will be no "Global Hawk" website honoring the people who flew and supported the aircraft. Taking away human control (except with a joystick or a computer program)of our reconnaissance aircraft is probably the worst thing that could have happened to our field of endeavor.
Once a Habu, always a Habu!

I'm 30 and, since I was a child, the Blackbird and the Dragon Lady represented to me the highest expression of aviation and bravery. You are great and I admire you with all myself, for what you did, for the sacrifice and risks you accepted to take. The deep love for your country, keeping the secret about what you were doing and where. This is patriotic and this is chivalry too. Fairfax, VA USA - Sunday, November 20, 2005 at 15:43:13 (PST)I've always had an interest in Groom Lake (AKA Area 51). So much tax payer money is put into that place without any congressional oversight what so ever. I think Groom Lake was very much needed back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's, but my gut feeling is that some of the things that go on there today would make most of us feel a bit sick. A place which doesn't have to adhear to any government branch, has more than enough funding, is totally secret, and is free of all environmental laws is dangerous in my opinion. But I do thank all who served to protect the USA!

Napa, CA USA - Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 11:19:38 (PST)As the son of Norb Alber, I know that the time he spent in Okinawa was something he still talks about with much pride and much fondness of the people with which he worked. Now living in his native Switzerland, I am in weekly contact with him and would be more than happy to assist with any questions he might be able to answer. Sadly, he checks his e-mails very rarely due to his degenerative eyesight brought about by his Multiple Sclerosis. I'd just like to say that I'm very glad this site exists and the legacy of all involved will never be forgotten.

PArkland , FL USA - Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at 10:44:11 (PST)Hi,
I was stationed at Kadena in 76. I was a Giant Talk radio operator involved with mostly Recon radio i.e. SR71 U2 recon 135s and kc135 refuelers. We were co-located with the sr71 crew lounge and a little chow hall they jokingly called Sims by the Sea (chef named Sim). I have some very interesting memories of that time. Our bldg was located just after you went around the end of the runway coming from main base towards SAC side. There is a memorial at the end of a dirt road on the left that was a memorial to the fallen during WWII. On both sides was old open graves that supposedly were used to mass bury the fallen to later be exhumed, of course covered in Habu grass. What a spooky walk at night!! I had two very strange events happen to me there that I've never really shared with anyone that to this day raise the hair on my neck!!! I loved Okinawa and was sad to have to leave. I went to Moon beach a lot and White Beach quite often..Iappreciate your web site thank you Ron Long USAF Ret.

Phoenix, AZ USA - Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 09:16:11 (PST)Carmine was like a Grandfather to me, he was one of the few constants throughout my life, a truely great man. He lived across the street from my grandmother (an air force widower) for over 20 years. I still have the Pan Am Parachute bag he gave me for a bag for my tent when I was about 12, my family, who had always been close with him, did not even know that he had flown the U-2 or had been in the CIA until my mother was watching a show on PBS that mentioned his name for his magnificent acheivement. The Day I found out about his death was a very sad one indeed, and I still regret the fact that, since I was attending college, I could not attend his funeral. If anyone had known him, he would've stuck out in thier mind for his sense of humor and loving demenor, not for anything he had acheived or done, as he was a very humble man. One of my dear friends and colleagues Dr Tom Budzynski suggested your website because of my unusual research areas. These as a clinical psychologist for 34 years are in Mind/Body Medicine. One on my major contributions in continuing service before self is in anti-terrorism. As an Aussie, I had the privilidge of PhD from Col Russell N. Cassel USAF (2 bird FSR) Russ taught me more than just psychology and since 1979 I have continued to visit the US, finally eventuating as Chairman for 8000 Forensic Psychologists. What I see in this website are superlative expressions of friendship and fascination where ole buddies not just talk but continue to contribute. Most of all I like the motto "In God We Trust" and the rest we monitor.

Good Morning Sir,
We wish to thank you for the very respectful slide show presentation of the services held at Arlington earlier this month for the late Colonel
Ray W. Schrecengost Jr. USAF (Retired). That superb presentation certainly reflects the honor and dignity of the military services held
at the Fort Myer Chapel and at Arlington.
We have also sent your link on to the USAF Chaplin (Captain Kenneth E. Fisher, USAF) to share with the officers and men of the USAF and US Army
Honor Guards who participated in those services. Captain Fisher has expressed their mutual gratitude for your posting in honor of Colonel
Schrecengost.
Our sincere thanks to both you and Major Dick Roussell, USAF (Retired) and all the members of the Roadrunners Internationale. You have provided
both a living history of that epic era and a fitting tribute to all the
officers and men who served in that unique activity. Thanks to your efforts, it is a legacy that can now be shared by all.
Thank you again,
Ed Miller
The "Roadrunners Internationale Association" have posted a series of photos of the memorial services for Colonel Schrecengost that you
conducted at the Fort Myer Chapel and at Arlington. The photos are posted at the following link:http://roadrunnersinternationale.com/schrecengost.html
Scroll down to the bottom, and the photos of memorial services are posted in a continual-loop presentation at the bottom of that web page.

extend our sincere thank you to both you and all the officers and men of
the U.S. Army and Air Force Honor Guards, and the U.S. Air Force Band.
We do appreciate very much the very fitting tribute that you paid in
honor of Colonel Schrecengost.
With many thanks to all,

I know that he developed the flight suits for the U2 & SR-71 and worked at Groom Lake when enlisted from the USAF by the CIA. I would like to have some insight on his accomplishments from friends and fellow workers from this era. Bruce Bassett passed away May 7th, 2002, fours days shy of meeting his second grandson. I would like to have information about him, as I would enjoy passing on his accomplishments to his now, three grandsons. Thank you for any insight you may have on Bruce Bassett. Email me at andrew@doctorfurnace.com
Best regards.
