The Roadrunners are saddened to learn of the passing of Reverend Edward Evans on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 of heart failure. A fall in early May had led to the discovery of brain and lung tumors. He died of heart failure while preparing for appointments with his two oncologists. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated with Bishop Barry C. Knestout and brother priests on July 10 at the Carroll Manor Nursing Home Chapel in Washington, D.C. Interment was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD.
Ed was at Area 51 in 1963 for Project OXCART before he went to the Seminary and was ordained a Catholic Priest. Some will recall his having a family emergency and Frank Murray flying him to Beale AFB in one of the F-101 VooDoos. On the way, the F-101 encountered a flight instrument failure for which Murray declared an emergency. Unfortunately, we have no record of Ed's work assignment at the Area to share with his family and friends.
